Strictly speaking this is not a tool - it is a method. ITIL is a structure and standard for the management of information technology, with a heavy bias on security. It is well known, of course, that a good percentate of security vulnerabilities exist as a result of sloppy, or low quality management practices. ITIL is designed to reduce this, and a number of other risks, by stipulating a series of tested disciplines and approaches. It also has a specific discipline ot cover availability (one of 12) and is used by many as aide in the production of continuity plans.
